Brownstone Cafe holds many great memories for me. I have been going there since they first opened. The atmosphere is good, and there is always very nice music playing.Brownstone has Carrot Muffins that are to die for,and their coffee has gotten me through many an early morning, rushing to eat breakfast in my car.Their Moroccan Mint Tea patches me up when I am sick, and the Holiday coffees, specifically Nutcracker Sweet, are a Christmas staple at our house.

I have even helped out behind the counter, hosted Friday Night Poetry, and met many of my good friends there. The Baristas know me,and they know exactly what I like.Donnie still makes the best Caramel Lattes out of anybody that I know.I can power my way through a difficult day with the energy I get from one of Donnie's Lattes.Brownstone is a great place to hang out, have a good conversation,or catch a show on weekends.

• I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can satisfy my curiosity.

[info]mistressdeath asked:

1) It's time for a nice relaxing bath. Bubbles, candles, or both?

1)Bubbles for sure! Sometimes candles. I like to sit in there for at least an hour, making weird shapes out of the bubbles.I usually end up making a set of bubble boobs inevitably.

2) What is your favorite thing about living in Battle Creek? Are you into the weird history at all?

One thing I love about Battle Creek is the thriving art community. They regularly have art walks in the downtown area, and there are so many talented musicians and photographers here.I love that Battle Creek has so much great history.Growing up in a historical town(Marshall)helped me appreciate history, and antiques!

3) What is your favorite thing to bake?

I love baking chocolate chip cookies and banana bread. My husband purposely does not eat the bananas I buy so that I will have to make this bread.

4) Uh oh, a team of ninjas has invaded your home. Is there something unusual they're there to take, or do they have the wrong house?

The ninjas are here for my banana bread recipe, obviously!

5) What is your favorite dog moment/story?

The time that my dog,Kaiser got out through a hole in the fence. I had to chase her down the street in a skirt,no panties, and no shoes. When I picked up my 65 pound dog,and hoisted her over my shoulder,my skirt flew up,and I flashed 2 teenage boys.Trufax.

The B&B store manager called me to tell me that the other manager had hired me without permission. She said I had attendance problems when I worked there...8 years ago! I had another job and school at the time, yet she wants to hold it over me and tell me that she can't let me work there.I promptly gathered up the $35 dollars of product that I bought on my discount, and took it all back to the store I bought it from(not the Battle Creek store)I figure that without my discount, and the sales on the products,I cost them around $70 dollars in lost product because I had used several of the products once. That is far more than they spent training me for the one day I got to work. I figure that they wasted not only my gas and some mileage on my car,but they also wasted a full day's worth of my time. Can you really blame me for being just a little bit put out?

Also,I forgot my driver's license and Social Security card from my orientation,so I had to go back in to get it. It would figure that they would do something passive aggressive, and they did not fail my expectations. I got my cards back alright, but they were stapled together, right through the magnetic stripe on my license!

On the bright side,I had an interview at Barnes & Noble yesterday, and I think that one went pretty well. It seems like it would be a better place to work for, since it is more laid back, and the people working there are more my age group. Also, they don't mind if I have tattoos or gauged ears. I should know by the beginning of next week if I have it or not.I also have an interview for Culvers on Monday. They are building it out by the mall, and it is almost finished.

If you could go back in time to another decade, which decade would you choose and why? Would you want to return or stay there? What if you could bring one other person with you?

Upon becoming a big fan of Doctor Who, I have thought a lot about how cool it would be to go back in time. I used to think about going back to the 60s a bit just to kind of see what kind of world we lived in when my parents were teens. It sure looked exciting to see the free love and patriotism. The sun was shining, the Beatles were playing, the three colors of freedom were sprayed like the blood of our soldiers on all the lawns. The perfect lucid dream. The perfect hiding spot.

Other times when I feel unsure of myself or what is going to happen in my future, I want to go back to the mid to late 90s. Being in 8th grade was probably one of my favorite times. Nights of Beavis and Butthead at 7pm on MTV. My So-called Life, The Real World. Nights at Hillaire's grandparents with our own 2 liters of Faygo Moon and Morning mist. Ozzy's big come back, Smashing Pumpkins. Melon Bowling during Mercury's retrograde.Having a crush on a boy I couldn't have and wouldn't have connected with if I could have him. Sitting on the roof with smuggled Marlboro Reds. We didn't have to give a shit about anything. We had no worries. I miss the excitement of doing something I wasn't supposed to at my age. I felt alive.. I'd stay there..if I could take the place of that young version of myself..otherwise I would just be watching everything I can't have back forever. I would take someone with me for sure..especially if I thought they needed a better explanation of what happened to me throughout the years.

*sigh*
